After the phone call from Reina, he confronted the three boys. He needed to stop thinking of them as boys. At seventeen and eighteen years of age, they were men by his standards. And men did not gang up on another like they had.

Recalling the three culprits and Lilith’s conversation the other day, he knew without a doubt her words incited their animosity. But they were entirely to blame for beating up Alek. And threatening Reina’s and Alek’s lives was intolerable.

When Alek finished, without a word, Blaise turned and walked into the house. Alek’s tale held more truth than what Oliver, Manu, and Luis had confessed. Blaise knew Alek well enough, knew that he was honest, even if he was a cocky bastard. Even though they were from different families, they bonded firmly in wulfin form, their minds open to each other. He also knew the three he already spoke to were trying to avoid worse punishment than he was considering.

He heard Reina and Alek hurrying after him. The boys needed to be taught humility, but he would not beat it into them. They needed to learn there were two sides to every tale, and most importantly, it was not their responsibility to attack someone unprepared and without consent from their Alpha or elders. And they were never to threaten another, not like that. Hadn’t their family been dealing from the receiving end long enough?

When Emery appeared from the kitchen, Blaise asked her to find their grandfather and meet them in the backyard. Emery flashed Alek a brief smile, her face pale, and headed toward the stairs.
